Sixty Six South

Please pardon the site's minimal appearance - I'm still getting it set up. More information, item descriptions and photos are coming soon.

Sixty Six South is a one-man soft goods operation. I focus mainly (but not exclusively) on bicycle accessories. Everything is designed, measured, cut and sewn by me in San Francisco's Richmond District.

I learned to sew while I was a contract worker at McMurdo Station, Antarctica. The station had a small but well-stocked craft room and, despite the 60 hour work weeks, there was ample time for crafts and hobbies. Early projects were a reflection of station life - basic stuff sacks made from decommissioned tents, an apron from a worn-out pair of Carhartts, juggling balls made from those purple Crown Royal bags and filled with lentils.

After two cross-county trips - one on a loaded Surly Long Haul Trucker and another as a crew member for a Race Across America team - I settled in San Francisco. As a road, touring and commuter cyclist, I started to craft and sell the kind of simple, thoughtful and well-made accessories that I wanted to use myself.

There is a line of latitude below which there is at least one day without sunrise and one day without sunset each year. In the southern hemisphere this line is the Antarctic Circle. It is located at 66° 33′ 44″ below the equator - Sixty Six South.
